New Radiohead, R.E.M. Albums In The WorksWednesday, May 20, 2009 3:50 AM
Both Radiohead and R.E.M. are in the initial phases of recording new studio albums.
This weekend Eric Clapton kicked off his 11-day stint at London’s Royal Albert Hall with two strong, two-hour sets. As reported by RollingStone.com, Saturday night’s show featured old favorites, new cover songs and an acoustic interval.
Pearl Jam has been booked as the first music act to appear on The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. According to the band’s website, on June 1, the night O’Brien takes over as host, the band will perform songs (note the plural) from their forthcoming studio album.
The Cult is hitting the road for a tour of North America and Europe, and will be performing their 1985 breakthrough record Love in its entirety.
Living legends Barbara Mandrell, Roy Clark and Charlie McCoy received their official inductions into the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday night, taking their rightful places alongside some of the greatest names in music.
For the first time since a Dec. 16, 2004 show at the Point Depot in Dublin, Ireland, Blink-182 took to the stage last night for a live performance – the first since the band appeared at the Grammy Awards show in February and announced their intention to reunite. The California-based pop punksters played an impromptu gig at a private event to unveil the new T-Mobile Sidekick mobile device at the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, Calif.
Atlanta’s WAGA-TV Fox channel 5 obtained the surveillance video of Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament getting attacked and robbed outside Southern Tracks Recording studio three weeks ago. Pearl Jam is using the studio – which is producer Brendan O’Brien’s home base – to record its ninth album.
Police in Atlanta’s DeKalb County have confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was assaulted and robbed last month in the parking lot of a local recording studio. The newspaper did not obtain a police report, but Rolling Stone reports that the incident occurred at Southern Tracks Recording, the home-base studio of producer Brendan O’Brien. Pearl Jam has been working with O’Brien on the band’s forthcoming studio album.
Dave Matthews Band fans will soon be enjoying a bevy of band-related media riches on Fuse. Beginning June 1, the music network will air seven days of original DMB programming – including a four-part documentary titled Dave Matthews Band: The Road To Big Whisky – in conjunction with the release of the group’s new album.
In a pseudo-preemptive move, Wilco has made its new album available for free on its website. Due to a purported leak of the self-titled disc, which is scheduled for release on June 30, the band has set up both high and low quality streams of the entire album.
